I know it is dangerous, thanks for the links though. How did it get into all of the lakes and oceans over the last 50 years?

  2. No offense and believe all you want... Asians or specifically the Japanese are the biggest seafood consumers in the world and there have never been any complaints or whatsoever. Since Asians have been consuming seafood for the rest of their lives, don't you think they should be extinct by now and yet Asians are one of the up and rising nation now. Don't you think all these are illogical and contradicting?

Westerners are known for not enjoying their food with bones particularly fish and of course their raw meat. I've been out dinner with several friends that just eat rice with seaweed throughout the whole night in j*p restaurants. I'm not lying and I'm sure many agrees with what I said. This is just obvious that someone is boycotting and it just simply lead everyone into believing something like mercury could harm the human beings.

Well, I certainly don't know your intention whether its good or bad. Maybe you are trying to save the underwater world or maybe you are really disgusted with fish, I don't know but anyhow, a normal human being only have lifespan around 100 years or probably even less. So just enjoy what you want and for your information, Japanese is one of the nation with most elderlies. So you really can't say it's unsafe for your life time or whatsoever and from looking at your picture, again no offense, you look probably more than 60.. so why would you still worry about what you eat? Don't you think you should just enjoy while you still can?

Do you still think it's unsafe?

  3. its all the boats d**n the boats

  5. fishing wieghts..chemical plants..people tossing car batteries in lakes..depend where you live.all water leads to the ocean eventually

  6. Biological Magnification- is the process of introducing any harmful substance into an ecosystem

Mercury was a heavy metal that was introduced into our waters from human waste....Factories, dental instruments, thermometers.......the algae in the water aborbed the mercury, the small fish ate the algea, the large fish ate the small fish, and then we eat the large fish.

DDT is another example of biological magnification

  7. Burning coal in power plants. The mercury accumulates in the food chain of the ocean. It gets concentrated in the 'higher' predators of the food chain. We tend to eat those species, so we are at risk of poisoning ourselves.with mercury. It has ALWAYS been a problem, it's just that now it can't be IGNORED anymore!   That's why we have 'unleaded' gasoline now.  There was a severe lead problem from the lead in engine exhaust.  The lead levels in childrens brains has dropped signifgantly as a result of the ban on lead.  So I guess mere humans CAN effect the Earth, for good, or bad!
