  1. It isn't easy to answer, because of the rare findings. The right conditions to turn the bones to stone don't exist everywhere. For instance only few bones were discovered in the humide rain forest, because they quickly decompose in the humide and sour soil. So it occurred that different findings were made all over the world without recognising a certain system. Of course you can't search everywhere.

It was only possibly to find legacies, because the hominid was a disorderly human. When he finished his meal for example he threw the waste on the ground. Even if a stone tool broke he simply threw it away. So the scientists could find these things thousands of years later.

It is believed that the first human-like humans stayed in Africa, because there were especially good conditions. He then moved on to Europe.

The reason for the movement is that the hominids went from valley to valley. They only rested for hunting or collecting berries or nuts. When they had hunted down all the animals and ate all the fruits then moved on.

The hominid didn't know himself how far he had moved in his life. His parents his grandparents and his ancestors did the same. Scientific methods allowed to research the hominid's traces. It is known because of the preserved bones, the tools, fireplaces and living sites which were used by the hominids.
