Well... today i went to my theatre class and the professor assigned a quick 10min excerise.

im usually shy and extremely nervous about public speaking but this time i offered to be the group leader and narrator.

i confidently offered to sit infront of the class and lead the group.

i guess my question is....where and how did this happen?

it felt great but i just have to know what could have caused it.

by the way.. i did great!!!

is it because this is the only class that i enjoy?

  1. It could be that.

You probably feel more comforatble around these people, and that's why you were able to so easily volunteer and do a good job :]

And you probably made a great impression on your professor, too.

  2. You're sudden confidence was not because this is the only class you enjoy, but rather the other way around.  You enjoy this class because it gives you confidence.

It is very common for very shy people to open up and express themselves in theatre classes.  I guess it's because the environment is very controlled... you feel like you are in control of the situation, in control of your body and your voice, and in control of the audience.  Many people such as you get the "theatre bug" and decide that this is what they were always meant to do in life.  The majority however are able to learn how to communicate effectively in theatre class and then apply it to other environments, such as the cubicle farm.

Whichever you decide, I wish you the best!

  3. If you like what you do you will have more confidence. Then you dont worry about making mistakes and you will come out of your shell. Keep up the great work!
