  1. Guess you now know how greedy Vista is !  Your O/S is residing in most of that missing memory along with any programming.

    DW

  2. some of its used up by the programs that are already installed

  3. The same thing happens with mine I bought yesturday I suppose the operating system takes up 24 of the 320 to make it 296 and the preinstalled software and files must add up the the 207.

Mine was not that used. It was something like 202 of 222 I would check with the manufacter such as HP, Gateway, or Dell to follow up on the issue.

    Hope this helps.

  4. You probably have unallocated space at the end of your current partition.Find a Partition Manager program and allocate the space to one of the partitions

  5. welcome to the wonderful world of advertising  and  formatting

your  hard drive is  320 gig unformatted

when its  formatted  you can say bye bye  to  several gigs the bigger the hd  the more the loss

a  40  gig hd wil  report  as a 38  gig hd and so forth

  6. Usually when a computer you purchase says that it has 320 GB. In theory, it does. In actuality, it doesn't. This is because Windows Vista takes up lots of hdd and so do the extra features added on, i.e. vongo, internet explorer, firefox, etc.
