Question:

Where did the Johnny Depp Riddler Rumors Come From?

I am just wondering where the rumors came from. I remember several months before The Dark Knight came out I wrote a fanfic sequel on fanon.wikia.com where I put down who I'd cast into the roles and I picked Johnny Depp as Riddler. This was before all the rumors started coming up. I put him down because I know he'd be an awesome Riddler. So I somehow got the feeling that I started the rumors by accident, but if someone has proof against it, I would like to hear it. Thank you.

  1. not sure if its true, but he'd make a great riddler.

  2. I actually found this out on the internet.I think it might have been wikipedia.Don't worry, I'm sure it wasn't you.

  3. Just people pulling c**p outta their azz.

  4. You're asking someone to disprove what could easily be a false positive which is extremely hard to do. Personally, I think there are only a certain amount of Batman villains the general public is familiar with, and that Johnny Depp is one of the first actors people usually consider when they consider hypothetical casting. Many rumors came out before and after "The Dark Knight" was released and one of the pre-release rumors was that Johnny Depp had been secretly used to film a few key scenes that Ledger hadn't filmed before his death (rumors are seldom accurate, and I mention that rumor not because I think it has any substance, it didn't, but to show that Depp had already been connected to the pre-release "information.") In other words,  I'm sure you aren't the only one who thought Johnny Depp would make a good Riddler in the next Nolan Batman film.

For the record, a few studies suggest that rumors that are heard completely across the United States and in Canada usually start in the two places where most new jokes come from: New York City and Hollywood.
