Where did the first organic molecule come from?

Many years ago, scientists demonstrated that the building blocks of life, amino acids, resulted from discharging electricity through a mixture of simple gases that they believe existed in the atmosphere of the Earth sometime after its formation.  So, it's entirely feasible that these molecules arose from lightning strikes - which were very abundant in Earth's early history - through the atmosphere.
