  2. Mike, you nailed it. The Industrial Revolution is generally considered to have begun in England when James Watt made the first really practical steam engine.

  3. The Severn Valley in the County of Shropshire, England.

    The development by Abraham Derby in Coalbrookdale c.1710, of the smelting of iron using coke and not charcoal was the trigger for the Industrial revolution.  From then on, vast quantities of iron could be made, as charcoal was a limited resource and coal (for making coke) was not.


  4. Britain is the answer due to the expanding empire, the infra-structure and the english civil war that allowed the traders to become entrepreneurs and finish the monopoly of the aristocrates.

  6. depends how you look at it, the steam engine was created in Birmingham by James Watt, and that was the drive of the revolution, i would say there but i am a brummie so might be a bit biast.
