  1. Basically they were suppose to be the best basketball team ever, with stand out stars.  Kinda like playing a video game and you get to make your own team and you pick all the best players.

  2. 1992 Barcelona, Spain. The XXV Olympiad (twenty-fifth for those who can't read Roman numerals). Going into the Barcelona games the US put together a team of mostly professional baskeball players who had taken an amature status so as to win it's after taking bronze, the Soviet Union took the gold, in 1988. The Dream Team. The true Dream Team. Still a bit disgusting since Micheal Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Scottie Pippen, Clyde Drexler, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Chris Mullin, and Charles Barkley (Christian Laettner was the only non-pro on the team as he was a Duke  just before the games and turned pro after) had a massive edge over the competition.

Sadly we've kept using pros after the '92 games (though thankfully other countries are finally getting some pros of their own to start evening things out). Even sadder that we're calling them the Dream Team when their not.

  3. Boy I feel old answering this question. The original dream team refers to the first US olympic squad (1992) that allowed NBA players to participate.  Before that only college players were eligible.

It consisted of Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Charles Barkley and others.

  4. 1992 with Magic,Barkley MJ,the list goes on. Basically it was a team full of celebs, and USA still does it that way.

  5. It was basically the team assembled by the US that would be, well, such a high-end team with so many super-stars, that you could only dream of ever being able to assemble such a team.

  6. I'm sure it wasn't all that hard. What else would you call the best team (other than the best team) haha

  7. when the olympic commitee decided that professional athletes could compete in the olympics, the best players in the nba jumped on. Besides the fact that all the superstars were on the team, worldwide level of play was not what it is at today. thats why there was a 40 point per game margin and thats why they were the dream team.

magic, bird, mj, barkley, pippen, mailman, stockton and more. pwnage

  8. It started back in 1992, when professionals were allowed into the Olympics for the first time.  The United States assembled the 12 best players in the NBA put them up against the world.  It would be like those questions in the basketball section where they ask who you ultimate team would be.  Those were the guys.  It was a team that you could have only dreamed about until then.

  9. prob. from a dreamer...lol

    Nah just joking.I don't know...
