  1. From the Book of Mormon named for the Angel Moroni.  Their proper name is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Until relatively recently they spurned the name "mormon" but now seem to embrace it.

  2. One day the Mormon Tabernacle Choir was gathered together, and someone spoke up saying "Say, why don't we start a new religion?"

Someone replied, "Sounds great, what should we call ourselves?" After a few minutes of silence, someone spoke up and said; "I know - why don't we call ourselves Mormons?"

    And the rest is history.

  3. Mormon was a prophet who did much of the writing in the Book of Mormon.  He was probably named after the waters of Mormon, which were considered to be pure.  "Mormon" means more good, or purer.

  4. It is a nickname given to LDS members because of our belief in the Book of Mormon, which was named after the prophet Mormon who compiled the different histories.

Oceanwoman - it really is too bad that you have to spread lies... and who do you thin kthe father of lies is - speaking of satan...?

Yes, there is a character playing lucifer in the temple ceremony - which is about our creation and the garden of eden... Hello!  He was there in the Garden!  So what's the big deal???  Yes, he was around, yes he tempted adam and eve.  That is in THE BIBLE.  So, Oceanwoman, the Bible must also be satanic, using your same logic.  Just because YOU don't understand the temple ceremony doesn't mean it's satanic.  Get over it.

You are just filfilling prophecy - Alma 24:30

  5. Mormon is supposed to be an ancient church historian. He was supposed to be the one that wrote the golden plates.

However, since Joseph Smith was a con, and the Mormon church teaches heresy, who really knows if anyone with the name Mormon ever existed.

Joseph had a very vivid and lucrative imagination.

  6. Friend ,

Its the name of the ancient american prophet who abridged all of the gold plates of mormon, which we of the church of Jesus Christ of  latter day saints have, known now as the book of Mormon.

These gold plates were translated into the English language by the prophet Joseph Smith ,by the power of the Holy Ghost.

  7. it is my understanding that they believe it is another scripture like the bible... the book of mormon.

    here's what wikipedia has:

  8. We believe that Mormon was an ancient prophet of God living in the western hemisphere, who kept track of all the records kept by his ancestors. We call the translation we have of those records "The Book of Mormon". We started being called "Mormons" by ouro enemies, and we just ran with it.

    Hope that helps.

  9. their so called angel was called moroni

so they should be called moronions or even morons

mormon is the name of an evil spirit used by occultist

this is indoctirnated to them by temple baptism and also when they stand in place to have a dead person baptised

they are infact invoking an evil spirit

this is why they remain blinded to the 'truth' of mormonsim

  10. Meaning in the Book of Mormon

According to the Book of Mormon, a man named Mormon compiled nearly 1,000 years of writings as well as chronicled events during his lifetime. The text of the Book of Mormon consists of this compilation and his own writings with some additional writings. For his work, the book is named after him.

The first usage of the name 'Mormon' in the actual text of the Book of Mormon is as a place name in Mosiah 18:4.

And it came to pass that as many as did believe him did go forth to a place which was called Mormon, having received its name from the king, being in the borders of the land having been infested, by times or at seasons, by wild beasts.[16]

  11. In the Satanic bible on the page listing "Infernal Names" the god of the ghouls is named "Mormo" (a ghoul is an evil being obsessed with the dead).

In Chinese, "Mormon" means 'gates of h**l.' That is why Mormon missionaries have problems in Hong Kong.

I dont mean to be blunt but Mormonism has some links to Satanism, from the Early History...

    NOTE: in the LDS temple..

Lucifer has appeared on the scene wearing an embroidered apron very similar to the one Masons wear in their secret rituals. Partaking of the forbidden fruit and becoming "wise," Adam notices Lucifer's apron and asks him what it means. Satan then replies, "It is the emblem of my power and priesthoods." having said that, Lucifer directs Adam and Eve to fashion similar aprons for themselves. He excitedly and slyly cries, "See, you are naked. Take some fig leaves and make you aprons. Father will see your nakedness (because in Mormon teaching, Lucifer and Jesus are brothers!), Quick! Hide!" As obedient to Satan as they were disobedient to God, Adam and Eve follow the instructions of "the god of this world." As soon as Adam and Eve have tied their Luciferic aprons about them, the ceremony narrator instructs the Temple patrons to place their own fig-leaf aprons over their beautiful Temple clothing. As obedient to Satan as Adam and Eve have been, each Mormon going thru the temple solemnly puts on the fig-leaf aprons!

    EDIT

In contrast, the Bible indicates that God refused to accept Adam and Eve's fig-leaf aprons as a covering for their nakedness. Instead, He clothes them in the skins of animals that He had sacrificed as a symbol of the sacrifice Christ would one day make upon the cross for the sins not only of Adam and Eve, but of the whole world.
