Where did the north american woodtick come from?

i have been told the common wood tick came from europe during colonization of america, sources please!

  2. There are so many species of ticks that it is unlikely any arrived from Europe.  Ticks have occurred in North America since at least the Cretaceous period.  I could find no mention of any ticks or the diseases they carry being imported from Europe.
