People in the US today seem more rushed, rude and impatient as a general rule. Why do YOU think this is?

  1. too much is going on and people are becoming more selfish and lazy

  2. I don't think it's intentional. I think they probably just have to fit a lot more into their lives and they forget that there are other human beings that they have to deal with. They forget to stop and smell the roses on the way.

  3. ignorance is bliss... to them anyway. I dont know really though lol im from the UK, and they are just as bad x

  4. I really like MissHeather's answer.  I ditto everything she said.

  5. Everyone is just so focused on themselves thats just the world we now live in but that still doesn't mean there aren't any nice people left.

  6. No...

there are no more gun fights in the street

we no longer have mobs that will lynch black people

brothel houses don't exist at every saloon

highway robbery is a lot more rare

    etc

  7. because people are busy and caught up in whats going on with them

  8. That can really depend on what part of the country you are in.  Large cities usually are attributed with rudeness because of the volume of people and traffic.  Smaller areas with smaller demographics are not that way.  When people have to commute some distances in heavy traffic only to work in a very stressful business they are going to have some issues unfortunately.  A farming community, not so much.

  9. socirty. all the stress and demands made of people everyday.money problems , more than one jobs , raising kids, paying bills. they dont have time to do things they want . they dont have time to think before they speak and act.

ita a shame realy because most people are good at heart. they are just too much in a hurry to say a kind word.

  10. for second i thought you were talking about "US today" the magazine. haha. technology is improving so people expect things to happen instantly. when things don't happen automatically people aren't used to that so they get rude, rushed, and impatient :)

  11. because everyone cares about themselves and where they need to be. not about slowing down and enjoying life, just rushing to the next place they have to be.

  12. I totally agree. Customer service sucks too. I don't care if it's fast food, grocery stores people who work there are so rude i can't believe it.

i think the cost of living is so expensive that maybe people are stressed out about money.

People are worried themselves only and their own lives they could care less about others.

    It is too sad.

  13. The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings, but shorter tempers; wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints; we spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy it less. We have bigger houses and smaller families; more conveniences, but less time; we have more degrees, but less sense; more knowledge, but less judgment; more experts, but more problems; more medicine, but less wellness. We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get angry too quickly, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too seldom, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life; we've added years to life, not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor. We've conquered outer space, but not inner space; we've done larger things, but not better things. We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul; we've split the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less; we plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait; we have higher incomes, but lower morals; we have more food, but less appeasement; we build more computers to hold more information to produce more copies than ever, but have less communication; we've become long on quantity, but short on quality. These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion; tall men, and short character; steep profits, and shallow relationships. These are the times of world peace, but domestic warfare; more leisure, but less fun; more kinds of food, but less nutrition. These are days of two incomes, but more divorce; of fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throw away morality, one-night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer to quiet to kill. It is a time when there is much in the show window and nothing in the stockroom; a time when technology has brought this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to make a difference, or to just hit "Skip Ahead"...

  14. Maybe where you live has something to do with it. In the country, people tend to be very relaxed and calm, but in the city, people gotta go go go and get to places. Its not the US that's rushed, rude, and impatient, its the place you live.

I live in the suburbs. Some people are rude, others, not so much. Its very diverse here.
