Where did women's sizes originate?

like where did they come up with like size zeros? how did they like say that like 'oh she's a size zero?' like what is that measuring???

  1. US standard clothing sizes were developed from statistical data in the 1940s-1950s. They are similar in concept to the EN 13402 European clothing size standard.

  3. When clothes were manufactured en mass and no longer tailor made. There is a size chart of measurements that correlates to the size number.

  4. With the dawn of anorexia and the like, there needed to be smaller sizes than 3/4, which was the lowest size up to that point.  I assume with the way things are going, we are going to need to have valuations of negative sizing...sigh...
