Question:

Where did you have your baby's first birthday party?

I'm going to be renting the upstairs from my mom and stepdad at the time and they would rather not have a party at their house.

His birthday party will be on November 1st, so it probably wouldn't be the best weather for a cook out, either. (His birthday is on Halloween, but it's a Friday, so Saturday will work better for his party.)

So any suggestions as to where I should have his party?

I was actually thinking of the party room at a local restaurant, but I don't know if they are going to let me bring the cake in from outside.

Suggestions?

  1. First of all, most places that rent rooms for birthday parties will allow you to bring in your own cake. Usually though, all other food they would like to provide for you. So, if you decide to go to your local restaurant, I'm sure that is their rules as well.

We had it at our house. We are fortunate enough to have enough room and we have a big yard. Her birthday is April 3rd, so it's usually fairly nice out. Now, when she gets older though, I know she'll want to have parties elsewhere. She'll get sick of having all her parties at home, I'm sure. I'm thinking for her next party (she will be 4 next April), we might have a party at the park. They have picnic tables under a pavilion with grills and all for that kind of thing. I think she would love that, considering she LOVES being at the park.

  2. first things first remember that you are having a 1st birthday and it is for the kids. do something that the kids will lik, like a halloween party scaled down. my sons 1st is august 22 and i am having a pool, one of those water sprayers and some water guns for the kids in the backyard. i figure he is not goign to remember it so it doesnt have to be too extreme. so see if you can do it inside someones house, have all the kids dress up as well as the adults and just have some fun.

  3. I think a nice party at your house. You could bring lots of fun games and any cake you like. Plus you don't have to worry about your son and his friends being misbehaved

  4. Hmmm. I don't know where you live but I suppose November would not be the greatest for an outdoor party.

Could you look into renting a room at the apartment complex you lived in before? Oftentimes you don't have to be a resident to rent a party room, and since you were previously, they might still give you the resident rate.

Otherwise, a restaraunt works out alright but you don't really want to pay for a ton of people to eat nor put the pressure on people to spend money, so it's probably less than ideal.

Does your town have any indoor parks, even such a place as a skating rink, etc. that's out of season probably rents out their indoor rooms for parties.

  5. I'm never having another birthday party at my house!  I'm a perfectionist and the stress of trying to get the house "just right" is too much w/ everything else I have to do to prepare for a birthday party (I'm a 'planner' like you and I nearly drove myself crazy).  I may make an exception for Connor's first but that's it, no more after that, lol.  We had Aidan's 1st two birthday parties at home.  For his 3rd we rented a room at an activity center (similar to Chuck E Cheese's), it was soooooo much easier!!  Johnny really isn't old enough for anything like that and will want familiar faces, I would go w/ your original idea if I were you.  I don't see why they wouldn't let you bring your own cake in (you can around here).

That's going to be one exciting weekend for him!  2 new 1st!

  6. are there any soft play centres near you?

or at another family members home?

my daughter was 1 yesterday, we have a big family and our little flat was too small to have everyone down, so we had a little party at my mums.

  7. My mom had my brothers at home... The baby is not going to remember his 1st birthday party so I think it should be simple. the Baby doesn't even know what is going on. Its more for you and your family.

  8. My sons bday party is on August 23 and we are having it at my moms house because she has a big house with a pool, and big front yard where were going to have a jumper. :)

  9. I am having my son's party at my house next month. Around here a lot of people go to Chuck E Cheese. If you rent a room at a restaurant they will most likely allow you to bring your own cake.

  10. my mom had mine at our house.
