Where did you learn to ski?

I learned to ski in 94 in the outer banks of North Carolina. Once I got up, I remember looking down at passing jellyfish and thinking there was no way I was letting go or going down.

That was also the very minute I decided to get a boat.

Where did you learn to ski?

  2. i dont' actually know how to ski, but i think the best way to learn is to continue to try it. Try something easy.  It sounds like you almost have a fear of it.  Once you get started, it'll probably be a lot of fun :)

  3. lake eufala,my nephew taught me!it was great!

  4. IRVING, Texas - It's official - quarterback Clint Dolezel will be the starter for Saturday's 7 p.m. game (CDT) at American Airlines Center against the Cleveland Gladiators.

Sidelined for four games with a separated shoulder suffered in the season opener, Dolezel is not only ready to play, but Desperados head coach Will McClay expects his veteran quarterback to play well.

"He's good to go," McClay said. "We're excited about him being here."

The team officially activated Dolezel on Friday from the Reserve/Injured list, and to make room on the 24-man roster placed wide receiver Josh Bush on the Reserve/Injured list with a hamstring problem. That means the Desperados will be carrying three quarterbacks on the roster, at least for this one game.

Dolezel's return will bring some sort of normalcy back to an undefeated Desperados team (5-0) despite being banged up early in the season. The 13-year veteran is ready to get back on the field and not just call the plays from the sidelines, which he still did as the team's offensive coordinator while recovering from the shoulder injury.

Dolezel said he's been able to react quickly during practices this week and adjust to coverages, which he viewed as his biggest challenge. He wanted to make sure his quick-twitch muscles could respond the way he wanted before he returned, in addition to having the arm and shoulder strength to launch a ball deep.

"I have everything that I need to be successful," Dolezel said.

He admitted he has woken up with a stiff shoulder this week, but said that was just part of the process of returning to the field since he has only thrown on a very limited basis over the past month.

But the veteran AFL quarterback certainly doesn't expect the Gladiators defense to have mercy on him, knowing they will be coming at him with a little something extra.

"Sure, there will be some late shoves and they will test our O-Line," Dolezel said. "But you can't worry about it, otherwise you'll get off your game."

Dolezel and the Desperados will face a Gladiator team coming off a bye week after a loss at New Orleans. The 63-24 thrashing courtesy the VooDoo was the first loss of the season for Cleveland (3-1).

Gladiator quarterback Raymond Philyaw was pressured into two interceptions by the VooDoo defense, and McClay said the Desperados defense needs to bring that same intensity when rushing the quarterback. The Gladiators are averaging 52.5 points per game, nearly five points more than the Desperados.

"They have an experienced quarterback who is one of the more underrated in the league," McClay said. "We can't overlook him."

The Gladiators 37.3 yards rushing per game is the second best in the Arena League, but the Desperados are the league's best at stopping the run - allowing only five yards per game.

Saturday's match-up will be the fourth meeting all-time between the two clubs, but obviously the first for the Gladiators as a Cleveland team. The franchise moved from Las Vegas to Cleveland during the off-season. The Gladiators have a 2-1 series edge over Dallas, but the Desperados won the most recent meeting between the teams two years ago, 55-48.

A Dallas win would be the 14th straight regular-season win dating back to April 2007 and would tie for the second longest such streak in AFL history. Not only would a victory also be the 15th straight regular-season win at home, again tying them for the second longest such streak in league history, but assure them of at least remaining tied with Philadelphia for the best record in the AFL.
