  1. Both, Aussies like to holiday within Australia and visit the other states but also enjoy overseas holidays.

The UK is very popular for Aussies to holiday. Europe and the USA are also popular, with places in Indonesia such as Bali becoming more and more popular.

Some people may spend $2,000 on a interstate holiday, others may spend $30,000 on a European holiday.

A popular choice for the wealthier Aussies is now cruises, such as the Canada/Alaska, Mediterranean, etc.

The number one holiday choice for Aussies would be short weekends away, travelling to the coast and go camping or renting beachside apartments.

  2. Well I'm Australian and my family I've traveled to bali, fiji, America, Thailand and we've gone on about 4 holidays in Australia. The next trip is going to be Europe. When I travel its gennerally just me and mum the most we've spent is $12000 but we can spend as little as $200. Hope that answers your questions. Cheers :)

  3. I had a conversation with the Aussie tour guides when I went back home for vacation.

According to them most of the Australian tourists are Aussies!

In the past most of the foreign tourists Australia received were the Japanese.

Now they prefer to go to Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and even China for cheaper and closer vacations.

Now our number one foreign tourists are the New Zealanders, followed by British and Japanese travelers. A decade ago, Japanese tourists outnumbered all other visitors.

Helping increase arrivals are Chinese tourists, whose numbers have increased almost fivefold in a decade.

People from different state or cities visit other states or cities. There are many places that are nice for vacations like the Blue Mountains, Ayers Rock, Sydney Opera House, Great Ocean Roads in Melbourne, Margaret River and so on…

When going overseas Aussies visit South East Asia the most, the top vacation spots I know are Bali in Indonesia, and Thailand.

If Aussies go to Europe, most stay mainly in UK.

I find it difficult to answer on how much Aussies spend on vacations, it depends on the family or person, a four star hotel would be much more expensive than backpacker's inn, fast food everyday would be much cheaper than other restaurants and so on.

  4. Most Aussies seem to holiday in the Asian countries (Bali, Vietnam, Singapore, Japan, Phuket) when they want to get out of the country as its cheaper to fly there and better value then flying from the west to the east in australia. However some of us love to holiday in our own country as its so diverse and beautiful. I live in Perth and holiday in the Gold Coast and Melbourne and I love them both.

You will find as well that Aussies do a lot of European and American (north and south) travel. We're no different than any other nationality!

  5. Like other countires Aussies are made up of differnt types, there are the ones who prefer to travel abroad, USA, Fiji, NZ, Thailand, Bali and others goto UK and europe and others like to do the family holiday to the coastal holiday spots or go bush and camp. I used to run adventure tours and i found a lot of Aussies traveling Oz as they are young then they were planning on Holidaying OS before settling down and having a family, i have raised my family on camping holidays out bush and to some deserted areas but that is my idea of a holiday afterall i was in the navy and did my traveling then getting paid for it LOL

  6. Most Kiwis seem to end up at mine.

  7. Both Countries holiday in their own Country as so many wonderful places to go. Many New Zealanders holiday in Australia there are several planes arriving each day full of New Zealand holiday makers to Australia. Both Countries people love to go to all parts of the world. Many New Zealanders would go to Fiji at least once in their life time and lots of Australians and NewZealanders go to Islands such as Samoa Norfolk Island Fiji. Many go to Bali. Thailand Hongkong. for the different culture Aussies don't nessecarily follow the Sun we have plenty here. Such a lot of Younger people want to do the big overseas trip to Britain and Europe to work and travel for a year or two. .A lot of people love to go on a cruise these have been very popular over the last several years. So the well off go to all sorts of places all over the world when ever they want

  8. Thailand, Bali, other parts of Australia and New Zealand....

  9. Bali & Thailand are fairly popular holiday destinations for Aussies.

These destinations are fairly cheap compared to some others & the Balinese have a reputation for being very friendly people. The culture is great too.

I guess that's why lots of Aussies like these destinations for holidays.

Travelling around Australia & to New Zealand by Australians is popular also.

If you want specific price structures, check out travel agencies & web sites.

  10. I would say Thailand (Phuket) and Bali (Kuta) as i know when i went to both of those places it was like i was in Australia there was that many Aussies there.  But in Australia Queensland is probably the most popular. They would spend around $2000. I went to both those places cause its cheap and hot! Aussies love the sun.

  11. Earl's Court SW london.

Also its very very cheap to go anywhere from London so most of the smart ones make a base here , than get cheap flights to all the places they want to go. Last holiday I took was 4 weeks in Goa , flight and beach hut included for 250 quid ($450) from teletext holidays.
