I have a 56 Chevy custom street rod pickup. The project was completed in 1997. It has 7500 miles on it now, but from sitting so much it's beginning to deteriorate. I want to rejuvenate, but can't decide where to start. Mechanically it still runs awesome, it's mostly cosmetic. I would like to make new updates, tires wheels etc. Just can't decide where to start.

  1. If the mechanics are good and you don't plan on doing anything major to the engine make a list of what you want to do and cost each job. If its mostly cosmetic it shouldn't be to hard. LMC truck is a good place to start. I'm doing a resto job on my 62 step-side, its been stripped down completely so i have a starting point, chassis first and work my way up. Wheels make the biggest impact, you might wanna stick discs on the front if it hasn't already or lower it, (I'm sticking 2 inch drop spindles on mine) again it probably has being a street rod. There's so many things you can do and allot of products out there. I'm always changing my mind which is why its taking so long.

    Good luck mate

  2. Start by getting all the mechanics working at full. Then move from the exterior in.

If you want to change things up, start with minor things and see how you like it. If you then like the style, get more major changes done.

  3. do all your updates first before moving on to the cosmetics always paint last
