Question:

Where do I build from here in a keeper league?

I'm in a 16-team standard league with .5 pts/reception and the following starting positions: QB, RB, RB, RB/WR, QB/RB/WR, WR, WR, TE, D/ST, and K. Each team has 18 roster spots.

Each team has three keepers, so the top 48 players are off the board before the draft begins (we draft from round 4).

My offseason trades moved me up from the #60 pick (#12) overall to #53 (#5) in the 4th round. Here are my early draft picks:

Round 4: #53 and #64

Round 5 #65 and #69

Round 6: #85, #89 and #96

Round 7: #97 and #103

I'll have nine players drafted in addition to my three keepers after Round 7, which fills 12 of my 18 roster spots. Most other managers only have one draft spot each round, so they'll have seven players at that point.

I traded players for picks in the offseason, so my three keepers are all second-tier RBs: Thomas Jones, Laurence Maroney and LenDale White.

Who should I target with those other picks to complement my team?

  1. I checked the stats and you've got three RBs that should finish with 1,000 yards and 6-9 TDs each. Maroney is the wild card here because of New England's signing of Lamont Jordan.

My suggestion is that you suck up as many of the rookie RBs that you can find -- Jonathan Stewart, Darren McFadden, Matt Forte, Rashard Mendenhall and Ryan Torain. This way, you can move LenDale White or Laurence Maroney to bench strength.

The fact that you can start two QBs means that you'll have to burn one of your extra picks on a QB for depth and, possibly, the occasional double start. Jay Cutler, Matt Schaub, Marc Bulger, David Garrard and Philip Rivers are all solid picks.

By round six, you can reach for a TE and Defense (why not, you have the extra picks to spare). Look for Vernon Davis and take the New York Giants defense.

  2. those RBs aren't going to get the job done but unfortunatly you have dug yourself a hole (kept 3) so you need to grab the best QB or WR on the board
