Question:

Where do I change when scan32.exe runs

It's eating a lot of my preciously little RAM and if it has to run courtesy of McAfee I'd like it to run at night and not in the middle of the day. And no, I haven't scheduled a daily scan. Anybody knows how to fix this?

  1. This IS NOT a McAfee program.

It IS a low threat Malware called Backdoor.Zombam.B

In case someone tells you to reformat, ignore them.  They just like to reformat for everything.

The fix for this problem is the following:

Get these two solutions that actually are RELIABLE !!!

    AVAST and AD-AWARE.

These tools do an EXCELLENT job, and the "home' versions are FEE to the public.

(The business versions you should purchase)

    A.

    Avast free Home Edition

    Get it here:

    http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.ht...

And please do a "thorough" scan as soon as you get it downloaded. The user interface is simple. Click the left side, and in the top menu that comes up, select thorough scan.

When it finds a culprit it throws up an alarm, then you DELETE the culprit, (do not quaranteen).

Then allow it to run all of the time, and you will be completely protected. It will "automatically" update itself, also for free.

You only need to renew your registration once a year, also free.

Note: I KNOW of several people who have used AVG and Norton and have gotten a virus anyway.

Don't go with Zone Alarm as it is hoggy and conflicting.

I've tried them all, and have had wonderful results with DEPENDABLE AVAST for the last 5 years.

The corporation I work for uses the Pro version, and has never has an incident. Avast is your answer.

    B.

Get free Ad-AWARE spy-removal tool from Lavasoft

    1. Download, install and run this program weekly or more.

  2. ok scan32.exe is not a virus/malware/spyware etc whatever the above mentioned person said...it's an on demand scan which starts when you try to scan your system or its scheduled. I googled for about an hour trying to find an answer , i even tried mcafee and mcafee forums both , but their seems to be no solution. I would suggest you to browse through  all the settings and  check if you can find any scheduled scans , i guess its noon.  Second option would be try if you can kill the process while its scanning from the task manager by right clicking on the process scan32.exe from the processes tab of task manager. If you are proficient with registry try and scan all the registry if you can find any keys for scan32.exe and delete entry. Best option would be to uninstall it using a Tool.

If somebody knows an answer it would be really interesting. i guess mcafee themselves cannot disable it.

  3. If you use McAfee get another one like AVG it's a better antivirus and it's free...

If you want the best antivirus I can give you the best antivirus:  ESET NOD32 contact me at: heyjonathan110487@msn.com
