Where do I download Ipod Drivers?!??

I've got a computer with Vista (need I say more) and an Ipod. The Ipod used to work in my computer but then kept on saying the Ipod was corrupt. I reformatted my Ipod and still it won't work. For other reasons I've had to restore my computer because loads of other things weren't working either, now when I connect my Ipod the computer doesn't pick it up. Can I download software drivers from somewhere?!? Or other than that what do I do?!?

  1. when you plug in your ipod to vista open up itunes and it should say it has detected an ipod that needs restoring or recovering or something like that and then gives you options. That SHOULD sort it out for ya. If not, right click on 'My Computer' and then click on 'Manage' and then in storage devices it should be there and you can reformat it and restore it in itunes the way previously mentioned. hope that helps.

  2. ipods are generally fairly dodgy. I've personally spent weeks trying to get my XP pc to recognise them. The Apple help website is pretty good. Look through the FAQs ad try to find the problem you're having.

  3. You don't download the drivers!

You need to download and install the latest version of itunes 7.7.1 from apple  via www.apple.com/itunes

and it will install everything you want  pls not you should download it form the computer you want to use if from as there are several versions and the web server sends you to download the right version for your computer automatically.

also if you did have some music on itunes you should never alter the contents of the :-

My Documents/My Music/Itunes  folder as it contains the library and the music files.  BACK it up - YES (in fact i would suggest you do every time you buy something new) but never alter it let itunes do the management.

always use itunes to use the ipod as dragging files into its folders will NOT make it play them it relies on hidden directories and hidden library indexes that only itunes can create.  That could be why it said it was corrupt.

plug the ipod in while itunes is running (best option is to reset it then plug it in after the apple lights up to guarantee connection if its playing up) then select update and if that  does nothing try restore!

you should have a fully functional ipod and itunes. remember itunes is the master and the ipod is its slave player NOT the other  way round as 90% of people assume and then get in trouble because of this.
