If price is a big concern, you can adopt a Bedlington through the Bedlington Terrier Rescue.  These are people who love the breed and take in dogs whose owners can't (or won't care for them).  Sometimes an owner gets too old or sick to keep a dog, or finds that they have other dogs that don't get along with it.  Or maybe they have to move to a place where they can't have a dog.  Anyway, the Bedlington Terrier Rescue tries to find good homes for the animals.   This is the person to contact for the California branch:
