  1. Check K12.com. They have free virtual public schools online. Check to see if your state is listed. Another place to look is your local library for books. Good luck to you.

  2. My mother uses the Bob Jones University curriculum on me and my sisters and its suppose to be the best we also belong to the Hearth homeschool group in Va, you might be able to find one locally for you our google homeschooling groups in your area.

  3. there are many good homeschooling curriculums out there, it just depends on what kind of teacher you are and what kind of student(s) your kids are.  as one person said, bob jones is excellent, but also one of the most expensive.  You didn't mention any ages, so if you have younger kids I suggest you stay away from any computer/online courses till they are at least junior or senior high age, the constant eye strain is not good for developing eyes.   You can find tons of information not only on homeschooling in general on this website  but they also have an excellent a used book forum on:

    http://www.vegsource.com/homeschool/

I have bought and sold countless items there.

if you have a good printer that doesn't cost an arm and a leg for ink and are willing to print out your own books and follow a "living books" type of educational method, you can get all you need for free here:

I would still suggest using a regular textbook for math (Saxon is excellent), even if you use that site for everything else.

Another resource using the print-your-own method but everything is on one cd (not online) is here:

    http://www.accelerated-achievement.com/

It costs about $100, but for all subjects (including math), all grades, that's not a bad investment considering many pre-packaged curriculums for all subjects for just one grade can run well over $1000 per year (and consumable workbooks would need to be replaced for any younger siblings using the same materials later on).

I have lots of other links I could share, but it just really depends on what you are looking for.  E-mail me if you like.

  4. Hi, I'm also a home-schooled student from 7th through 12th and i just wanted to share with you about ACE (stands for Accelerated Christian  Education). It's a curriculum that helps every kids all over the world and it teaches them about good conducts and Biblical principles. About the cost of it, it only cost me $275 and if you want to you can just check their site. In addition to that, they cover every subject from math to economics and other hard subjects like world history, algebra, U.S. government, english, speech, music, etc. You will learn alot from this if you want to try it.

Anyways, since i came from a third world country and now i'm here in the U.S., it's a challenge for me to know everything about America and of course the right english grammar, but ACE helped me and now im about to graduate in high school and i am almost finished 2 years of my college (like killing two birds in one stone). So, it's the best curriculum for me. Here's the website:

  5. yes actually there is a place called the Book Samaritan that will help but you must fill out the forms before the deadline date to get help. There are also free online charter schools all over that will provide you with the books, computer, printer and everything you need to homeschool. Options depend on where you live.

  6. www.connectionsacademy.com

they may have it in your state, and the materials are free!

  7. Try one of the free programs online. There is a list here

    http://www.takecontrolofyoureducation.bl...

There are a bunch of great curriculums out there but they are all a bit pricey. You can use the Sonlight teacher's guide and get most of  the books at the library. this would be one way to save money.

    Best of Luck!
