Where do I find a private carer?

I'm looking for a private carer to look after my grandparents in their home in th Edinburgh area, any ideas?

  1. Try a reputable agency-(look in yellow pages for one), then you will know that the carer has been vetted.


  2. You have to advertise in the local paper & / or job centre. Make sure & ask for their qualifications & experience usually SVQ2 or upwards and that they have done a moving & handling course & keep it up to date. You must also advise them that they will have to have a Disclosure carried out on them as this is a neccesary police check on their background which they must have before they enter your parents home as an employee. I am a senior carer for a disabled lady in her own home and I find it increasingly difficult to find good, decent & honest people to join our team.   4. talk to your local counsil or put an advertisement in the paper i suggest you interview each applicant personally and request any paperwork, your local citizens advice bureau can also give you details on this

  5. Advertise in the paper or look in the classifieds to see if anyone is advertising this type of service.
