  2. you could get a job as a cabin boy.

  3. go to the USCG and get a 'z' card.  typically you must have a job lined up before they will give you one.  then you go job hunting.  but not too many US flagged merchant ships now.  lots of inland tugs and supplyboats in the gulf.  good lcuk!
