  1. Check with any professional genealogist. The goal should not be to "just" find noble ancestors but to find ancestors in general in an effort to record as much family as you can. If the goal is to claim a title or some sort, it's probably futile because such things usually would be known by the person anyway.

    Having noble ancestry isn't uncommon at all. Everyone with British isles ancestry is probably descended from William the Conqueror or later kings. Same is true of those with continental ancestry given that there have been several hundred monarchies.

    If you are interested in Spain or Italy you could look up spanisharmorial.com - heraldaria.com - or maybe go the more serious route with folks like Andres Mantilla (the Marquis of Casa Saavedra, a genealogist)

    If it's the UK, the web abounds with info. In any case, the best thing to do is go to Cindy's List and get the name of any reputable researcher.
