Question:

Where do I find the fuses in my boat?

I have a 92 Chris Craft 187 with a Cobra OMC outdrive and a Ford V8 5.0 liter engine. This morning I charged my battery and when I put the terminals back on I put them on the wrong sides (causing a spark) My mechanic thinks I may have blown a 50 amp fuse (or one of the other 2 fuses) and he tried to describe to me where the fuses were located near the air intake. But when I went to look I could not locate the rubber inline boots that he had described to me. Does anyone know where I can find a diagram of this engine with a detail of where I can find these fuses that my mechanic is talking about? At this point my gauges will work, my blower and bilge pump will work but I get nothing when I try to crank the engine (not even a clicking)

  1. sounds like a starter prob mostlikly the silinoid

  2. Yea it sounds like the inline fuses to the engine. There should be a diagram in the owners manual or repair manual, sometimes you have to get the repair manual from a dealer or boat shop.

I just ordered one for my boat and it will be $78.99 there not cheep.

  3. there is a main fuse or rest button on the engine... when you pop the cover open you look straight back - its in a bracket most of the time.. with a RED rest button... if you find it and it did not pop.. look by the starter.. for inline fuse holder it will be the size of a FAT BLACK MARKER...  but most of the time they put the fuse panel under the dash or down were your feet touch the dash ( behind a panel ).... but the engine fuses are not there....this just for your other stuff.. like pumps, blowers, lights etc.... well good luck
