We're getting married in Mexico and want to take laptop, camera etc and don't know if we can take this as hand luggage as we don't wanna shove it in the hold. Also- x-raying my laptop can wipe my hard-drive so would that happen?

Is there a specific weight for hand luggage or can we pay extra to take heavier items?

  1. i take my laptop on hols no problem, camera goes in the case we have hard shell ones so its all safe, hand luggage is 10kgs and must be a certain size.

  2. Camera and laptop are good. I'm sure your hard drive won't get wiped - mine never did. Just remember to take your laptop out of the bag and put it in the bin separately.

There are luggage restrictions for carry-on, they don't usually weigh your luggage so if you are a bit over it's okay. I think when I flew here (Norway) my carry on was like twice the limit (I'm a student, textbooks are heavy) but I was fine. Except for the whole carrying it in the airport thing.

Check the website for your airline for all the rules, but electronics are generally fine. Liquids are really more of a problem nowadays than anything else.

  3. go onto the airways website it should have all the info you need there how heavy your bags can be etc

    hope this helps

  4. There is a limit to the amount of hand luggage, usually between 7 and 10 kilos. Don't worry about the laptop or camera a s they'll weigh less than this and be unaffected by any X-rays.

      Congratulations and good luck...
