  1. Please be careful about buying a heavy duty industrial machine.  I made the mistake about buying one that claimed that it was.  When I took it to the shop for maintenance and servicing I was told that what I bought was an ordinary household machine with a beefier motor.  The service technician told me that a industrial sewing machine would be all metal, in a table, with a huge motor and maybe a compressor.  You might see an industrial machine at your local cleaners.  Most of them seem to be Jukis.

I bought an old black Singer 66-16.  It will sew through heavy weight materials, but it definetly is not a commcercial heavy duty machine.

Go to your local sewing machine shop and ask them if they have any industrial machines.  I'm sure they'll say they don't but could offer something that can take heavy tasks.

    Good luck.

  2. I found a link on the webpage below.  It's mainly about saving money on sewing, but there is a link to a guy who refurbs them for a good price.

  3. I got mine in a place that sells sewing machines they actually use them as a trade in in some stores

  4. I found mine on Craigslist, but I've seen them on eBay, too.  If you can afford to buy from a local dealer, you'd probably get better service.

  5. Check with sewing machine dealers in your phone book... you're going to want to have someone available for fixing the machine if you're new to industrials.

    Otherwise, there are dealers like:
