Where do I get a list of properties that have safety violations? ?

I need to obtain a list of property owners who have safety violations against their homes. I have checked with the local courthouses in town, but nobody seems to know how to locate the list. I am told a local municipality whould have this list.

Safety violations would usually be code violations to do with the exterior of the home (and that would come from usually the city code enforcement).  

Commercial businesses are inspected by the fire department and they could supply you with those.

I can't think of another department that would inspect properties around here.
