hi any manned station will sell you the correct photo card. as for a seat it depends on if you can pre book a seat such as with virgin or Transpennine As for non bookable seats it is a case of first come first served. in fact it may be advisable to travel later in the day ( off peak ) to have a better chance of a seat .

Most station sell them. All you have to do is hand in a photo id and a photo of yourself

You should be able to get a card from any large station.  If you want to guarantee a seat you can pre-book.  Otherwise, it depends where you are going as to whether you will get a seat.
