My daughter is almost 5 months old and I would really like to get her ears pierced before she gets much older. But I don't know where to go. I want to go somewhere extremely safe and sanitary not just some store like claires. Anyone out there have their baby girls ear pierced and where??

  1. Almost all jewelers will do ear piercing, but some unfortunately have a minimum age limit, although I think that Claires will be perfectly alright and they will pierce babys ears. Also some salons do ear piercing, so it might just be a case of asking when you next go out. Good luck with having her ears pierced though - I think it looks so cute when a baby girl has pierced ears, and that is why I have done the ssame with my daughters.

  2. Sorry I don't know....I think they're pretty sanitary anywhere though.  I'm wondering why anyone wants to get a baby's ears pierced...I just don't get it.  It just seems unnecessary to me, not to mention the added risk of infection.  Do babies really need jewelry?  Is it a cultural thing that I'm unaware of?  It seems if you just waited until they were older you wouldn't need to worry so much about it.

Good luck anyway...it's just something that baffles me.

  3. if you choose to have it done before she can consent, have her pediatrician do it.  if your pediatrician won't do it, go to a reputable piercing parlor where they pierce with a needle, not a gun.  your pediatrician might even be able to recommend a place.

you might find that some legitimate professional piercers will have some ethical issues with piercing a child who is too young to consent.  the teenagers at the mall will do anything for $$.

  4. I took my sister to have her 4 month olds done at clairs!

  5. No telling what kind of places will pop by the time she CHOOSES to have her ears pierced.

Kassie- Babies don't BELONG to anyone, that's just sick. You have the same logic as those who molest "their" children. "It's my kid, i can do what I want"

  6. piring progoda

i just got my ears pirced yesterday for the first time and im 14yrs old and it didnt hurt at all they told me what they were doing step by step and were very gentle and clean....they cleaned everything before it even touched me

  7. Why not wait till your child CHOOSES this for herself?

  8. NEVER! Go to Wal-Mart! their sterilzation is not very good. In fact, all eight times my family has gone ther, one of us ends up with infections.

I have gotten two different piercings at two different Claires store. Clarie all around the country, use highly developed sanitary piercing guns and have specially formulated ear care rinse. Even though you want to go professional, your best bet is to go to claires. It is safe and the ear guns, they are real good. I promise your baby will NOT feel a thing!

  9. claires is perfectly sanitary and safe. but i recommend waiting until she says "mom, can I get my ears pierced"

edit: the gun that is used DOES NOT touch any part of the ear, only the earring does, and the cartridge that the earring is in gets thrown away.

  10. I'm sure that beauty salons would be offering that service.

  11. well you could go to wal-mart that is where i had mine done and they are clean they wear gloves and clean your ear and will give you the kit to take care of her ears afterward.or if there is a jewlery store near you that does it you could use them.If there is a mall near you and they have a Clairs' store they do it to esp. children it is a children jewlery store.

  12. i would get her ears pierced now i got both my girls ears done at age 2 months right after they got there shots. my drs office offeres to do it but it cost 30$ so i got them done at my local beautician. and it was alot cheaper . so see if your drs office does them or try your beautician.

  13. i am sorry but i struggle to see why anyone would want to peirce a five month old babies ears is it really that important but anyway  my sister just tried to get her five years olds ears peirced and they were sent away from several places apparently there is a new law that only allows peircings after the age of six

  14. I got my daughters done at Icing..the gun never touched her ear just the earring and they were very clean about it..had gloves..cleaned her ear..and gave us the aftercare to keep it clean..don't listen to these people that say don't do it..if you want to peirce your childs ears then peirce them..its your baby..not theres..also if you ask your pediatrican they may be able to do it for you..mine said if i would have asked when she got her shots they would have done it for me..if not then believe it or not claires is more sanitary than a regular tattoo or peircing shop..if anything i'd go to claires over them.

  15. Please what ever you do dont go to the mall or any other place where they use a piercing gun. They aren't as sanitary as you think. Go to your local body piercer and ask them what they think. They are totally sanitary, that's where I took my daughter. They have small hoops, so they will be able to pierce your daughter's ears, and when they heal, you can put in studs.Everything at the body piercer's is sanitized in an autoclave. Just like at a doctors office. At the mall, they only wear gloves, they can't autoclave the gun, so think of it like this, that gun they use, just touched and pierced thousand's of other people, and they aren't trained to do it. At least a body piercer is. Please consider this as an option.

  16. I'm not 100% sure on this because my neighbor just told me that she heard some of the hospitals will do it for you...I mean that WOULD be about the most sanitary place you could get it done...but like I said I don't know if they will do it...maybe some do and some don't...I would just call and ask...Sorry if this wasn't the greatest help but just thought I'd put the idea out there....

  17. claire's accessories is a good place often many jewellers do them as well

  18. Ask your pediatrician.  I'm sure he/she will have much to tell you.

  19. I had my daughter's done at Claire's when she was just a little over a year old.I ask and made sure they had been trained and not just come in off the street. The store I went to required them to recieve training,so I felt comfortable. I know people will think I'm horrible for doing it but I don't care. We clean her ears everyday after we brush her teeth, so she will learn to clean them as part of her daily routine. She will be two in Nov and she loves them. She just smiles when she gets to look at them in the mirror.
