  1. If you go to usavolleyball.org and then the Wanna Play link and then the USA Volleyball Regions link and choose the region in your area.  They will have information on how to become a referee in your area.

  2. Join the LDS Church/ or you dont even need to join/they let non-members play/coach/umpire.  Just call the one in your area and let them know what you are interested in.

  3. It will depend on what you want to referee. If you are looking to ref school games the school district may have certain certifications that you need so you should contact them to see what is requires. If you're looking to ref club events during the summer (or whenever they are) I would contact the league that you're interested in reffing to see what they require. Some places may only require knowledge of the game for their refs.

As the person before me stated you can check with www.usavolleyball.org for becoming a certified volleyball official in your region and that will get you in with and USAV events but if all you want to do is ref a league at the YMCA or somewhere like that you shouldn't need to get any certifications.

    Hope that helps.

  4. Both of my sons umped baseball (and played it).  Every spring when the registration forms arrived, there was a box to check off if the player was interested in umpiring.  The umpire-in-chief phoned and told them when/where the training was, and after a 1-day classroom session and an evening field session, they both became umps.  In subsequent years they did refresher training, and had the option of additional training to go up a level.   The training was free, and it was a great part-time job (before/after their own games, or on off-days).

So ........... I am guessing that phoning any local baseball/softball/sports association would be the best place to start!
