I need to speak to a doctor about my bi-polar depression and getting back on medication. I have not had insurance for about a year now and have been told today that my company will not be able to afford me in a full time postition. So now I know I will not recieve bennifits and have no where to turn. I've tryed going on County wide sites with no luck of where I can go. If you know anything about state care, please help.

  1. If you  have mental health problems, you can apply for disability and will be covered by medicaid or medicare.

  2. do you need the insurance so you can afford the meds??if you have money you can buy your own ins or shop the drug-web. if not call the drug company that makes the med you are looking to get.if you have a previous diaognosis from a dr many companies offer help at reduced cost etc.mental health issues are kinda out there in limbo land even if you get disability there is a waiting period for medicare(my wait is 10months)starting from jan '09 so it's actually longer about 18 months i have two really good drs(shrinks) that supply me with samples of the proper meds not that c**p gps' hand out.and ssd doesn't pay much again im lucky i have a private disability ins it (only) took me 4 yrs to start getting payments and i spent much of that time homeless, i didnt qualify for ssi or ssd.the guys from my former union kept up my private ins payments for me..i only wish everybody could be as lucky. good luck and don't let the system beat you down.

  3. mhmr usually has a sliding scale based on your income. for medications and doctor visits

  4. I am so glad someone finially asked this question! I am going through the same thing, anxiey, panic attacks, and so on and I to need professional help and I to have no health insurance because I am divorced and have a job with no benifits. I tried going to the welfare office but they didn't help either because they said I am not disabled. It is really a shame people with no health insurance have to suffer!!

  5. Your question is not likely to be answered in one word.find useful tips here though.http://health-insurance.expert-tip.info/...

  6. I live in a very small town, with only 3 Mental Health doctors. 2 of the 3 work based on an income scale, so your visits can be affordable if you do not have a high income. Call each office in your area and simply ask.

  7. Contact Mental Health America (MHA). They have a website with toll-free number and referral resources by state. Each state has it's own MHA affiliate and your state can refer you to a provider. You may also have some luck by contacting NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill)--they also have a website.
