So my tuition is approx. $10000, and OSAP is only giving me $7700 where will I get the extra money if my parents and my job cannot really afford to pay for it. Apparently U of T will pay for the rest as I was told by a friend, but I havent received any papers or documents that tell me that...Help what do I do?

  1. No the school will not pay the rest of it. You have to pay it yourself. If you don't have the money you can try getting a loan from the bank with your parents or get scholarships from school.

  2. You can contact the U of T financial aid office and see if there are bursaries or awards you are eligible for.  You can ask at the financial aid office about the "work-study program" -- which is jobs at the university that funded students can do and be paid for and which will not reduce your OSAP funding.

But that is all the university will do for you.

Now, some things you can do:

you can ask the financial aid office if you have any review items -- that is, expenses that you and your family have that may impact your OSAP funding.  This would be things like medical expenses not covered by a health benefit plan, legal expenses, care of an elderly relative in a nursing home, etc.

You can go to the bank and get a student line of credit.  You will need a co-signor.

  3. never go by what a Friend says... esp when it comes to fin aid.  People qualify for different things and this is why there is always so much confusion.

The school will not pay the rest....find a job and save up the money to pay the rest or go to a bank and take out a loan.
