Question:

Where do I get the rest of my outfit?

I had thought that I'd be able to buy everything at the boutiques, but the one where I bought my dress had no cover ups (they rented capes, but have nothing to sell) and the other one I went to had none. They could order them in, but I'm not ordering something when I have no idea what it looks like (designers should offer proper sketches rather than fashion shoots of their items).

Now these stores sold standard wedding gowns - mostly strapless or halter top, some with spaghetti straps, and very few that can be worn on their own (at least to a church wedding or with a modest bride). I would have expected them to have jackets or at least wraps so that the bride didn't have to go to other stores.

Is this common now, to have to go to multiple places? And does anyone have any suggestions for where I can get a jacket to wear? My dress is ivory, so I can't just get a white one, and most women's clothing stores don't have as wide a range of colours. Oh, and I have only about two months when I won't be in school between now and the wedding, so I really don't have time to sew one with my sewing skills.

  1. Do you have a David's Bridal in your area? If so I would call the store and ask them if you could bring in your dress so they can match it with a nice jacket. In most cases they will allow you to bring the dress with you -  but it is always best to ask. David's Bridal has a lot of wraps and cover-ups that you can wear.
