  1. learn boxing and wrestling if you want to punch and do takedowns

  2. I don't train at all for fighting, but I do know what you need to do. When you're fighting, you should first worry about your defense. Quick reactions are key. And if you're confident you can add another level to the fight, and come back with some offense. If training for someting like this helps, then by all means go ahead. But all you really need is some logical thinking, and quick reactions.

  3. I joined a Karate school, which emphasized self defense and applied techniques, as opposed to sport and competition.

Starting from when I joined, it took me about 6 months to learn to punch properly- despite the fact that I'm athletic, talented, and have some prior experience.

I had to learn about a dozen minor steps- the tilt in my wrist to align the bones of my knuckles and forearm, which way to point my toes to open my hips, how to hold my head, etc.  So many tiny, tiny things which, when put together, increases the reach of my punch about half a foot, and makes it more deadly.

I've also learned joint locks, grappling, and even some ground fighting (though it's not emphasized in most Karate dojos).  What I suggest you do is visit the local martial arts schools in your area until you find one you like, teaching a system you like.

Keep in mind that it takes time.  A black belt usually takes 4-5 years- like a bachelor's degree.  And like a bachelor's degree, you have only scratched the surface.

  4. For Punching I'd suggest seeking out a good Boxing club and coach as for takedowns then I'd investigate, wrestling, judo or jiu-jitsu.

    Best wishes :)***

  5. U can try Krav Mega or Jujitsu.

  6. The best punch is one throwen with bad intensions , Turn your hips and throw a six inch punch to the nose or gut . the bullies will respect you after that ! You won't have to worry about takedowns .

  7. Try doing combos like these add an elbow to it in the end!

  8. Internet has a lot of good videos for self defense, punching hard, fast etc.

Or you could take an MA class.

  9. The best take downs are necessarly punchs but if thats what you want, I got some fore yah.

Basic punchs consist, of basic arm motion, between the tricepts and biceps; tricep punching is usually in street fights, when the two fighters care more about making a hit rather than defending themselves. Bicep is used by boxeds, with the fists covering the face.

Triceps can be good weaking blows, but bicep usually causes more issues onto the other person.

The simplest way to make a mind blwoing hit, is to throw your body into it, lean your arm back, then sling it up and at them, this makes for the best K.O. hit, or a stunner. How ever most people who have any good physical phsic take more than a knock out blow to finish them off. But any mugger or theif will be down and out.

I'd suggest tackling them around the waisted first, then knocking them in the cheek or gut so you don't cause more damage then necessary to defend yourself and you don't break anything that would ruin them forlife. Way to many people punch people in the eyes, and sternum, killing the person is not self defense..

I'd suggest not learning pressure points or weak spots, so you don't spend too much time focusing on were you hit..
