Question:

Where do I report Australian Lottery Scam?

I received an email saying that I won $500,000 AUD. I know this is a scam. I am neither a Australian Citizen or ever stayed there, except for a vist. I want to prevent innocent persons from falling prey to this scam, as the email, requires them to submit a lot of their personal particulars, before they can collect "the prize".

The email originated from Australianlottery.com, and states that it is organised by Australian companies.

Thanks

  1. Its just spam most people know that...the only people who fall for that is little kids and their identity is pretty useless to steal

  2. the department of fair trading have had same problem

  3. too common.

We cant do much about it

these ppls aint stupid, they have their ways to get out of trouble.

    its the internet d**n it!

the most u can do is educate the ppl around u

  4. there an australian website called scam watch just search it through google, and you can repot it there, it also has other known lottery scams, maybe you is on there

  5. Well if it is an Australian company the place to go is www.asic.gov.au

But I doubt it is an australian company at all. The web site isnt registered in Australia either... otherwise it would have an "au" extention.

If it is an individual residing in Australia then you could contact the Australian Federal Police. More likely to be someone from Africa or somewhere else claiming to be an Australian Lottery. Too easy to get caught here as our laws allow the federal police to access ISP and track IP addresses and bank accounts to the perpetrator.
