Well... I have now posted 3 questions all on the same topic and finally... Well I want to send my local radio station a demo tape. Does anyone know where I can get the address for it. I know where the building is but I don't know who to send it to or if the person who handle this kind of thing stays in the same building which the radio is broadcasted from.

I appriciate anyone who helps me :)

  1. You might try typing in the station's call letters at

    http://www.radio-locator.com

Usually an address and contact information will show up.

Heck, if you know where the building is, you might try taking it there in person.

The person you want to get it to is usually the program director. Sometimes, an operations manager.

I got my first radio job by meeting the station's general manager in person while he was doing a live remote.

    Good luck to you!

  2. Find the office number in your local directory and call the switch board and ask for the name of the programme controller or manager. They are always in the same building and it is often one of the dj's. If the station does not have a programme controller, which is very unlikely, ask who the station manager is and send to them If the address does happen to be different the switchboard will advise you

  3. RadioBoy has a good answer. Let me just add that if your demo is home-grown (not actually off-air from a real station), I'd try to get someone in the biz to listen first. Tell them you want their actual opinion no matter how harsh. Then: get ready.

If yours is a check off air from a station, go for it. Just plug the call letters into your favorite search engine and send to the program director at that address with a short note.

If they are doing a remote (personal appearance) try to meet some of the street team. Don't bother the DJ, he's on air and probably would be annoyed. But if he see's you hanging around and makes nice, again, go for it. Don't be too proud to start as an intern or gopher.

  4. Check out their web site

  5. Try starting by looking for the station's website and look under the "contact" link
