Where do I start to find a foundling birth cert. for 1895?

the name I'm looking for is frank doherty born "1/1/1895 "who then married bella gallagher on the 14/08/1915

  2. I'd start with the marriage license.  That should show where he was born and then you can go to the locality where he was born and request a birth certificate.  Good luck.  Most states didn't do birth certificates until about 1912.

  3. Very unlikely you'll find a birth certificate for your chap; however...Parish Records would most likely have his christening record.  (If you know where he was born.) At least you have the d.o.b.!

  7. You could try looking at the Irish birth index.

    Your local LDS family history centre should have them on microfiche or film.

    Look in the phone book under Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
