Where do I start when looking for a travel trailer?

I don't even know where to begin. The research I've done online seems really overwhelming. I have no clue what models are best and affordable. I'm not looking for anything huge and fancy either just something to take my 2 kids to the lake. Can anyone give me some ideas?

first you have to consider what kind of vehicle you have to tow the camper with. a small pop-up camper can be towed by a mid-size car or small suv. a pop-up would be ideal for you and two kids but will get kinda cramped if you bring along your significant other.depending on your finances you might consider a van conversion camper. these are self contained on a 1 ton van chassis ( no tow vehicle needed) and can comfortably accommodate four people. plus there is no set-up the camper time and if you want to move camp sites, just turn the ignition key.used pop-ups will start around $4000 and up. used van camper starting around $10000 and up. hope i was of some help.
