  2. Scrapbook albums come with protectors. They are already attached to the album. You just slide your page into them. Most are post bound books. You can unscrew them and add more protector sleeves to it for more layout pages.

check with your library for books and magazines on scrapbooking.

  3. Sort your pictures first

Decide Color theme ( look a pictures)

Ask each family member to do a page ,but you can give them the page so it will all match  ;)))

  4. Buy a scrap book and pages and other arts and crafty items.

  6. buy a scrapbook & get photos

  7. well to make a scrapbook youll need magazines, photos, scrapbook pages and scrappages to write notes on. dont forget

    craft supplies.

you can get alll this at Pat Catans or Staples

  8. Learn digital scrapbooking!  It is much less expensive and once you learn the program you choose, there is tons of inspiration in galleries.

I love your idea of typing up comments from family members.  What a treasure!

Oh, and since this is a gift, you could easily upload to Shutterfly and have a hard bound book printed. They look awesome!

There are other options for printing, or make a slideshow and have the whole family watch!

  9. First, you buy a blank scrapbook album like this:

    http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/shop/386...

They come in many sizes, designs, and price ranges.

Get one that includes "page protectors".  Those are plastic 'envelopes' that are opened at the top.

You pick the photos you want to use, then chose cardstock for the background of the pages in colors that will go with the photos, and colored paper, either plain or in designs, for pretting up your pages, and emblishments such as stickers.  You decide how to lay out each page design, then build each page on a piece of cardstock, the same size as your album, using the pretty papers, stickers, etc., to enhance the photos.

When each page is completed, you slip it down into a page protector.  When the album is done, you can just open it and flip the pages to look at them, just like any book.

I'm putting a link below to a site that has many examples of pages people have designed to give you some ideas.

  10. Sugar, this is a wonderful idea and your mom will treasure her gift. I know, because I have made two similar books for people and they were exceptionally moved.

The first thing to do is approach the family members and maybe her best friends and ask for their comments. Ask they if they can supply pictures or anecdotes to accompany their comments. I say to do this first because people put things off. I had to keep reminding people when I made my scrapbooks and it almost made me miss the deadline.

Next, collect any photos, cards, letters or any other keepsakes that you yourself want to include.

For a book like this, I suggest assigning one or two pages per person. By two pages, I mean a double-page spread, or the two pages that face each other. Have a title page first. The last page in the book can be a summary, or a closing page in which you give your mom special thanks and also thank the family members who participated.

As far as how to actually make a scrapbook, I will point you to a link below. It is a 17 minute video that takes you through the steps of making a simple scrapbook.

The second link goes to a blog that contains lots of tips and other scrapbook videos.

Good luck with this. Your mom is lucky to have a daughter who thought of making her such a nice gift.

  11. Well, I recommend that first you go to the store like walmart, joann fabrics, Borders(i always buy mine here), etc..... and you buy a scrapbook kit. The way I see it is that if you have a kit the stuff blends with the album. Then you find a bunch of pictures and well choose the ones you want in the album. Make sure you have those scrap papers that are all color ful and have different designs. So here are 2 ideas of how to design the book;

    1) Make every page for a specific family member and then you could have them write there note on there page but they way i like more is have a page with the whole families pic in the middle and have everybody sign around it

    2) place the pictures wherever you want and on one page put a family pic and have every one sign around it
