Where do Italians originate from?

I was wondering becasue I'm 1/32 Italian (Sicilian) and I see that pure blood Italians look very dark. Are we originally from the middle east or what? Is it true that we have some Black ancestry?

From my understanding Sicillian although considered Italian, are also not considered Italian...if that makes sense.

♠ yes! From Romans time Southern Italy has always been a place of immigration of Berbers from Northern Africa; Besides genetics Berbers had no noticeable influence, and assimilated very soon becoming 100% Italians.

No, it's not true that Italians have a Black ancestry, but Italians do have a Middle Eastern ancestry. Probably long time ago, Middle Easterners migrated to Southern Europe, and that's how modern day Italians and Greeks came to be.

i would think Italians originate from Italy, but going further back, from the Romans. And further back, i would guess Egypt. Cleopatra herself was Egyptian, and eloped with marc antony, who was a roman, and there's also that one of the Roman gods is the Goddess of Isis, who originated from Egypt (the Nile River), so maybe there's some kind of connection there

if you look on a map the whole mederterranean area is very close to one another so it is very possible for italy to be settled by middle easterners as spain and france also have people that are somewhat dark also

Some Africans did settle in Sicily, I believe, but they were more likely to be of the Northern (Arab) variety.  

The rest of Italy is populated by pure Caucasians.  They may look tan and have distinct features, but they're still white.

Italians from Southern Italy are dark. Sicily was colonized by the Phoenicians  in ancient times  The Phoenicians are racially very close to the Lebanese who are an olive skinned people.
