  1. They are snails that lost their shells :)

Like other insects and bugs, they live on the ground and come out at night to eat.  In the winter they burrow down and wait until spring time to come back out.

Slug mommies lay eggs - and little sluggies are hatched.

Unless you want to get into the whole theory of evolution with him - where do all living things come from.

  2. Mommy slugs.

  3. They live in the ground.  What are you asking?

  4. Every slug is both a boy and a girl at the same time.  Two slugs come together and mate; each deposits sperm into the other to fertilize the other's eggs.  This means that every slug will be the mother of its own eggs, and the father of the other slug's eggs.  They both go to find a nice damp patch of dirt to lay about 30 eggs in below the surface, usually under a rock or some such object.  In time the eggs will hatch out baby slugs.  The parents don't take care of the babies; the babies can take care of themselves as soon as they hatch.

    This system is very efficient.

  5. Slugs are snails without a shell.
