Do they purchase it from the big guys like Shell, Petro ... etc? i'm sure a lot of people are concerned about the quality of fuels from these affiliated gas stations, but are also tempted for the lower $ per litre.

thanks! :)

  1. Most independent fuel retailers (those not affiliated with a formal fuel company) purchase their motor fuels through a network of brokers.  Most often the fuel you pump into your vehicle at an independent dealer is a cheaper run of fuel, or something more often referred to as "raw gas"; i.e., gasoline without any additives.

"Raw gas" may be cheaper to purchase than fuel with additives, but there isn't any guarantee your motor will run better using it.  In many cases, cheaper fuel also means you will not get as many miles out of a gallon as you would from a name-brand fuel with additives.  You could also run the risk of damage and foreign-matter buildup within your engine.

I'd think carefully before using the cheapest fuel around.  I run a service business and use exclusively name-brand fuels and lubricants.
