  1. Markham and Lawrence

    Brimley and St. Clair

    Morningside and kingston

Are all really vibrant neighborhoods with a lot of nice young people. Try to get into the Tuxedo Court or Mornell buildings if you really want to experience an exciting nightlife and really relaxed youth atmosphere. Also recommended is Teesdale Court and Parma Court.

  2. well toronto itself isnt really that much of a safe area. just stay away from areas like Scarborough and north york since they have alot of crime. other areas or towns that are near Toronto that are safe are probably either Mississauga or waterloo. i recommend waterloo if your a student but you don't mind living on more of a quiet side. but i really recommend Mississauga if your a student AND you want a nice night on the town.

  3. There are a couple of areas where young people/students live.

    1) The Annex, near U of T, major intersection is Bloor and either St. George/ Bathurst.  Area is full of bars, coffee shops and restaurants.  Many of the big old houses have been converted into muliplex housing or students live in basement apartments.  There are some residences at U of T and other partment buildings near by.

    2) Little Italy, a strip of College street in the west end.  I would say from Bathurst to Osington.  Again lots of restaurants, clubs etc.

    3) Young and Eglinton aka Young and Eligible.  A little more expensive but lots of apartments and the rental prices are depressed a bit now so still affordable.  Good nightlife, quick subway access to downtown.

    4) Area around Ryerson, from Bloor south to Queen between Jarvis and Yonge.  In the downtown core, but very mixed neighbourhood.  Still has some rooming houses but lots af apartments and condos.  Numerous clubs, bars, and restorants within walking distance.

  4. I currently live in Scarborough. I've never felt threatened personally, But I do hear about the occasional shooting.

Toronto is actually considered to be Canada's safest major city. So I wouldn't worry about it too much.

  5. There's lots of housing downtown near U of T and Ryerson. It should be freeing up with the school semester coming to a close. You're looking at Spadina to Church and Queen to north of Bloor.
