My son will be 18 in 5 months and I have never ever been late on my child support payments, now the state says I owe over 26000 in arrears. I went to court to prove my payments, but they say I have to pay until "OTHERWISE". Where did I go wrong??? It's ruining me financially. Any one please help. Any info will gladly appreciate it . Many Thanks.

  1. The state likely credited your payments to the wrong account.

You should not have to pay to go to Court - that's a violation of the right of presumption of innocence.

  2. arrears are if there was any welfare collected by the mother or father and any interest if you are not making the payment that is ordered by the court in the amount ordered.  Have you payed faithfully since he was born or since the court ordered it.  call your local child support agency and ask for a compromise of arrears or any program you might qualify for.  Thats what I did and now i am free and clear

  3. You should get a lawyer.  You shouldn't have an arrears balance if you paid all your child support payments on time.  You say you have already proven to them you have paid so they shouldn't have told you to pay otherwise.  Your best bet would be to get a lawyer.  If you keep paying towards the so called arrears you'll get it back when they see their error and your sons mom will have to pay you back.
