Where do beauty marks come from?

Why are they called that and why are they only in certain spots?

beauty marks or moles are just a collection of melanin in one area of the skin, therefore they would only be in certain spots on your body

People used to actually draw in moles on their face. A mole in a certain place would have a meaning (such as bravery, beauty etc...).

Naturally occurring moles (such as in my case) pop up when ever I get too much sun exposure and don't wear enough sunblock... kinda like freckles and you can also be born with them.
