  1. Actually, their feathers are naturally coated with an oily base, so that water beads off of them and they can still fly.  Birds just hang under the leaves in the trees when it rains-- kinda like when we kick back in front of a cozy fire when it rains; not because we can't go outside, just because it's comfortable.

  11. Birds have waterproof feathers, so they don't necessarily have to HIDE when it rains. I'm sure they either stay where they are in a tree, or they can get under roof awnings and things like that.  I know birds like water because they bathe in the puddles in the street and stuff.
