Where do both ends of a rainbow end or does it continue around the world but cant be seen?

  1. Ah but how do you know which end is the end. One end could be the beginning.  The end would bestow luck on whom so ever it should fall.  The myth is a pot of gold but luck and good fortune is also said to have been a story.


  2. From a plane, when you fly away from ground,  rainbows are round, a circle, they have no "ends"

  3. no one knows where it ends... im  pretty sure doesn't continue around the whole world... there is and end but on one knows where..its confusing because its all the way up in the sky... you can make your own rainbow on a sunny day.. just take your hose and turn it on mist..or just put your finger on most of the hose opening and have it squirt they way the sun is shingin and you have your own rainbow and you know where it ends too.. sadly no pot of gold under this one :)

A rainbow is a circle but you usually can't see the whole thing.  It does not continue around the world.  For the rainbow to form you need two things; a light source (the sun) and water droplets suspended (or falling) in air.  When you look at the droplets with the sun behind you while standing on the ground the top part of the circle is clearly visible because the air is filled with water drops and the light separates when it refracts in the water drops.  When the water hits the ground the light can no longer reach them so the rainbow disappears on the bottom of the circle before it can complete the full circle arc.  

    If you were to ascend in an airplane or balloon and get high enough off the ground where water droplets were still in the air as you looked at the bottom of the arc you would be able to see the full circle of the rainbow.
