Where do fleas come from?

do they come from plants like ticks? how can i stop my cats from having them?

They mostly come from other animals. But these animals can pick fleas off the ground. When an animal shakes the fleas go onto another animal causing the fleas the lay eggs...then basically making the whole process go round again. To stop your cats from having them buy a flea collar, or search on Google, 'How to protect my cat from getting fleas'. There are some help sites there. Or you could also go to your vet and ask them about fleas.

They live in the wild and jump onto animals and lay eggs on the animals. You can get rid of fleas by giving your cats a bath and use fle killer. You can buy it at Petco or other pet stores.

vacuum your house thoroughlyly - wash all bedding - flea eggs can hibernate in carpets, floors and bedding and get yourself some frontline for your cat - you'll not regret it - so much better than the itching and diasease that fleas can bring

Fleas are insects.

They hatch from eggs which are laid on a host animal by an impregnated female flea.

Their form of mobility is to jump and relative to their size, they can probably jump higher and faster than any other animal on the planet.

They just jump from one animal to another or they are scratched off into grass and catch a lift from the next passing animal.

Ticks do not come from plants. Fleas are parasites, like ticks, that are in the environment. They breed, like anything else, and more of them are born.

Your cats need to be treated monthly to keep the fleas away. Otherwise, it's a losing battle. Visit with your veterinarian about the available treatments, like Frontline. You put a few drops of liquid on the cat's back between the shoulder blades and the fleas go off to find other creatures to annoy.

The cost of Frontline or a similar product is negligible when you consider the cost of fumigating an entire house, especially when fumigation does nothing to prevent further infestation.
