Question:

Where do fly's go at night?

I've been asking my parents and teachers that question since I was like 5, and still dont have an answer

  2. As far as insects go, houseflies have excellent vision, and they use their vision to navigate while flying. Just like you and me, flies can't see very well when its dark and are less likely to fly in the dark (unless they really need to). There are a few exceptions, for instance mosquitos (also members of diptera, the fly family) who also have very good sense of “smell” and are able to home in on carbon dioxide.

    As well, a recent study found that in fruit flies a “rest” period analogous to sleep in mammals is a necessary part of their daily cycle. You can read the abstract here or the full text of the article here.
